To inform and facilitate the socio-economic development process in the Virgin Islands (UK) through the provision of timely and accurate statistical information and economic analysis.
Who We Are
Â
The Development Planning Unit (DPU) which was established in 1974 with the assistance of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and falls, under the Ministry of Finance. One of the main purposes of the Unit is to provide a range of statistical information, economic analysis and recommendations to the government to facilitate informed decision-making, planning and policy formulation for the overall strategic development of the Virgin Islands (UK). The DPU is also responsible for managing the development and flow of National Statistics
What We Do
Provide quality, accurate and timely information and analysis to policy makers to guide the planning process
Develop and maintain a comprehensive and accurate statistics and economic database consisting of financial sector statistics, tourism statistics, trade statistics, price indices, social and vital statistics, national accounts, balance of payments and environmental data Provide statistical and economic analysis of the Virgin Islands (UK) economy Collaborate with other government departments, statutory bodies, community organizations, the private sector and the general public to ensure that all data requirements are met

Promptness- we will:
- Answer your telephone call within 3 rings
- Acknowledge telephone requests within 1 working day.
- Respond to all correspondence within 4 working days.
- Fulfill information requests that do not require research within 1 working day.
- Fulfill information requests that require research within 5 working days.
Courteousness - we will:
Greet you in a warm and friendly manner, identify ourselves, and offer assistance
Reliability - we will:
- Advise you of the time required to provide the service requested
- Notify you if additional time is required to provide the service and explain the reason for the delay
- Refer you to the appropriate agency or department if we are unable to fulfill your request .
Quality - we will:
- Ensure that any information disseminated is accurate and consistent
- where possible, ensure that information is kept up-to-date and readily available either via our website, publications or on a per request basis
- Comply with the Statistical Act, 2005 especially as it relates to confidentiality and security of information and all other relevant legislation and policies
- Ensure that our staff is adequately trained and properly informed about the Development Planning Unit matters.

- Monitor and evaluate our services and performance against the standards set out in our charter
- Provide an avenue for comments, criticism and recommendations.
- Publish the results in our Departmental Annual Report on how well we perform against our expectations. Our Annual Reports are available on-line at http//: www.dpu.gov.vg or from the office of the Deputy Governor.

You may send us feedback through our website or comment cards located at the front desk or by writing or calling the Director or Deputy Director of the DPU.
Complaints Procedure
If you are dissatisfied with the level of service you have received from us and wish to complain, you may write to the Director of Planning who will respond within seven (7) working days.
If you are dissatisfied with the response received, you may write to the Financial Secretary. If you still believe your complaint was not handled to your satisfaction you may write to the Deputy Governor or the Governor who will respond within 30 working days after a full investigation has been conducted.

No private or identifiable information or data is shared with any department or official of any Government.
